FeaturesNATIONWIDE MARKETING GROUP: 50 YEARS UNITEDNationwide Marketing Group, the largest buying, marketing and business support organization of its kind, celebrated its 50th anniversary at its bi-annual PrimeTime convention in Nashville this past August. The organization was formed by a group of independent retailers who made it their mission to help each other succeed. Today, with more than 5,000 members operating some 14,000 storefronts, those values continue, as Nationwide remains committed to the independent channel, empowering members with the tools and resources required to win in an ever-changing business environment. Fifty years ago, though, it was just an idea.
RTO 2021 TOGETHER - AGAIN IN TAMPARTO World 2021 – hosted by APRO and TRIB Group – was everything the rent-to-own industry has been eagerly anticipating for the past two years of the pandemic: a reconnection of rental dealers, managers and exhibitors from around the country, sharing information, ideas, inspiration, deals, and laughs – face-to-face, together again in Tampa, Florida. The fourth annual National Convention & Tradeshow, which was held virtually last year as the first surge of COVID-19 swept across the nation, was in full Floridian swing even before its official kickoff on Monday, August 23, as the APRO and TRIB staffs worked furiously all day Sunday to perfect every detail of the event. Sunday evening, the Florida Rental Dealers Association hosted a welcoming RTO World Pre-Party sponsored by TRIB at the American Social Bar & Kitchen.

Book ReviewINTO THE STORMBy Dennis Perkins and Jillian B. Murphy
Lessons in Teamwork from the Treacherous Sydney to Hobart Ocean Race
In the face of extreme challenge and tragedy, a crew of “amateur” sailors piloted their tiny vessel, the AFR Midnight Rambler, through a treacherous storm to achieve victory in one of the world’s most renowned sailing competitions. Their triumph, perhaps even their survival, can be attributed to their astonishing commitment to teamwork – an alchemy of cooperation, trust, planning and execution. Author Dennis N.T. Perkins chronicles the crew’s four-day ordeal and draws parallels to the world of business, revealing how teams can work together to overcome obstacles and succeed in difficult times.
